A Soldier's Story

First and foremost, my thoughts and prayers to all of our soldiers, sailors (this includes Navy, Marines and the Coast Guard), airmen and their families who have voluntered to serve their country and to those who have given the the ultimate sacrifice for their country on this Memorial Day.

As Ronald Reagen (who was a Democrat) once said, "I never left the democratic party; the democratic party left me." Well, sirs (Powell & Ridge) maybe it is time for you to leave the Republican party and leave it to us real conservatives. Go placate yourselves with your buddies on the left. We don't need you.

No. Frankly, the men who founded this country are turning over in their graves...and have been for some time...because we are no longer run by men but by a bunch of cowards, tyrants and wimps who are afraid of their own shadow. Get over yourselves, America. With all due respect, General Powell is/was a brilliant tactical commander.

General Powel is correct in that the GOP is "getting smaller and smaller." He is incorrect in his assertion "that's not good for the nation." Why? If the "D" way of life is so wonderful who cares if the GOP lives or breathes? Weren't you taught to destroy your enemies in Army school? What is the enemy of libs and moderates all the world? The GOP. Why would you want anything other than what the "D" provides to be allowed to exist? Maybe you're not the brilliant commander we all think you are.

The GOP is getting smaller because the GOP is no longer the party of conservatism. When the GOP decides to stop playing footsie with the libs and moderates at all the Georgetown and Upper Weest Side cocktail parties and come back to what conservatism is...I suggest you read Mark Levin's EXCELLENT book "Liberty and Tyranny" to learn what that means...then the GOP will flourish. Until then, we will continue to get the Obama's of the world; vapid, vacuous vaccums without an ounce of intellect nor ability.

And, General Powell, you do NOT speak for the 46% of the country when you state:

Sure. I will pay taxes for the services outlined and approved in the Constitution. (You DO remember that document don't you? Have you ever read it?) I also do not need to be told how to run my life or tell me what is best for me and my family.

For you to espouse less freedom and more dependence on a behemoth and oppressive government makes me question just why you became a general. Did not you liberate thousands of people in the same situation(s)? Why was that ok but now we have to have exactly MORE of what you fought and destroyed? Is your dance card getting empty now, General Powell?

It Ain't Rocket Science

First of all congratulations to Trev Alberts. He is a former Nebraska football plaeyr who is now the AD at the University of Nebraska - Omaha...always the "red-headed, step-child" to the real deal down the road a bit in Lincoln; the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. Nebraskans love their Cornhuskers. I know. I am one!

Here is hoping (Tom Shatel...NOTPBO...uses the term correctly) that Alberts can get Nebraskans to love their Mavericks too.

But the point here is this quote inthe article:

Some words in there strike out at me; hard work; passion; single focus. I will take someone with passion any day for any job. I have found that passion usually transcends a mediocre work ethic with one of great skill and tenacity to get the work done right, get it done quickly and do it with great care and quality. For someone who is out of worik right now, I would like to channel that idea of passion into the mindset of hiring people all across the world. See it and believe in it and the reward will be great when the success comes when you hire someone who is passionate.

Offended vs Free Speech

As one who works in the broadcast industry, this hits close to home. However, this is just another in a long line of complaints against people who are hired to be controversial... saying something controversial. Rush, Boortz, Hannity etc. have and are all being demagouged for their "hate speech." Strange, I never hear that being said about Olbermann, Matthews, Madow and that intellectual giant Janine Garrafolo.

The point, and I do have one, is that none o fus have the right to NOT be offended. Disagree all you want but if free speech is truly free...and I doubt that it really is...then get off of your high horse and forget about being offended. Ignore it and turn the dial. The aforementioned broadcasting giants work, live and die by ratings. If the ratings sour, they no longer work. It really is that simple of an equation. So everytime ya'll get your panties in a wad about something that was said and you run to the nearest camera to scream "I'm offended, I'm offended" you do nothing but draw attention to yourselves and the host. That draws more attention to the show and the ratings go up, up and up. Ratings go up = revenue goes up = business owners = filthy rich and VERY happy!

My best advice to all of you who are "offended" by their so-called vitriol; just stop listening and "shut the hell up!" (I am quoting Keith Olbermann speaking to the sitting United States President. One wonders what would happen if I said the same thing about PBO? Hmmmmm.) The ratings will tank and you will be offended no more.

Besides, one man's offensive speech is another man's free speech.
