Here is hoping (Tom Shatel...NOTPBO...uses the term correctly) that Alberts can get Nebraskans to love their Mavericks too.
But the point here is this quote inthe article:
"What I like about him is he made himself through hard work and a single focus on the job at hand," said David Sokol, a UNO booster of considerable passion and clout. "It's not that complicated of a job if you have those two skills. I think he brings a lot more to the table to do a good job than what we've had the last several years."
Some words in there strike out at me; hard work; passion; single focus. I will take someone with passion any day for any job. I have found that passion usually transcends a mediocre work ethic with one of great skill and tenacity to get the work done right, get it done quickly and do it with great care and quality. For someone who is out of worik right now, I would like to channel that idea of passion into the mindset of hiring people all across the world. See it and believe in it and the reward will be great when the success comes when you hire someone who is passionate.
