Tom Osborne.
The question? What is the single, most-important decision the University of Nebraska system has made in the last 10 years? Specifically, hiring Coach Osborne as the Athletic Director.
Steve Pedersen ("Pedey" as we so affectionately called him (believe me it was NOT a term of endeasrment) a "homer" and part of Coach Osborne's staff ran the program into the ground. His hire of Bill "I Won A Super Bowl With Someone Else's Players" Callahan had to be the one of the single most boneheaded move in sports history. Instead of a football power, they attempted to turn Nebraska football into a marketing machine; instead of beer and pretzels, "Pedey" and " Cally" brought their brie and wine with them to Lincoln. "Pedey" gave us the reincarnation of the "Slick Willie" administration. Fortunately, it only lasted 5 years instead of 8.

Line Up and Hit 'em!
Finally. After all the offenses Tom mentions in this article, we finally get back to an offense that works. P-O-W-E-R football. Line up, smack the guy in front of you in the mouth and drive him into the ground. Coach TEnopir used to call it a "pancake." Get your guy on the ground and you're awarded credit for a "pancake block."
That doesn't mean that throwing the ball is a bad thing but Coach Watson and his changes last year created the ability for the pass to open up the power running game.
Not to take anything away from Sam Bradford at OU, he is an amazign talent but for my money, I'll take Tim Tebow any day for my offense.
GO BIG RED!!!!

See Spot Run.
So this has been the problem all along. More evidence that the educational system in this country has failed.
I propose a new amendment to the Constitution (#28 by my account and first since 1992)...not that THAT document means anything anymore...that all elected representatives MUST be able to read.
And the proof will be a yearly requirement that the elected representative read the Constitution aloud at a location in their home state live and in person. THEN, in order to verify comprehension of what they just read, take and answer questions from their constituency.
That ought to prove to the electorate just how stupid these people really are.
But, by all means, keep placing your trust and faith in these people. Please. The unemployment rate can't take much more.

While Nero Was Fiddling
There you go my friends...YOUR government hard at work on the TOP issues of the day.
Although it is probably better to have them working on this...more their speed...than say the financial sector.
Wait a minute...
Senator Orin Hatch, with all due repsect, you are a complete MORON! I have never been to Utah, nor will I EVER voluntarily step foot in your state. I certainly hope the good folks of Utah are not stupid enough to actually re-elect you.

He's SO In Touch!
He's so cool! He understands what we do. He's one of us.
That's what the pundits will say anyway. No. He is clueless and in way over his head...but to say that is to be called a racist.
Actually, Coach K...and I have the utmost respect for you...I would rather he spend his time on teh brackets instead of the economy. It is certainly on par with his intellect to fill out a piece of paer than to govern a country.

What's Wrong With This Picture?
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Frank-assails-bonuses-paid-to-apf-14646988.html
Where to begin...this is so rich on many levels.
"These people may have a right to their bonuses. They don't have a right to their jobs forever," said Frank, a Massachusetts Democrat.
After I picked myself up off the floor from laughing, this is rich. Hey, Fat Barney (he has inherited the moniker from his Massachusetts Senator Teddy Kennedy...now that Teddy's on the "1 year list, I don't want to seem TOO terrible) if someone who actually produces something has no right to a job, then who the hell does? You perhaps? I see. So, we have a piece of goo who has never run anything that can even be remotely constured as a business...well, the escort service out of your basement COULD be if you bend a few definitions and you certainly do that well enough...telling the folks who know how to run something htat they have no right to their jobs. So, who has a right to a job, "Fat Barney?" Your buddies in Boston and DC who contribute to your re-election campaign?
Besides, "Fat Barney," I thought the entire purpose of the "stimulus" was to keep people in jobs?
"Fat Barney" you are a morin of the nth degree. GO back to Mass with the rest of the Kennedy's and boat off of Nantucket with your elitist, burgeois (sp) fellow morons and make yourself feel important.
Friends, we have seen capitalism in this country come to a complete end. When governments decides who has a right to a job, private business is done and over. Line up for your bread, water and medicine courtesy of good 'ol "Fat Barney" and friends. But don't EVER question his mansion and boat in Massachusetts.

Fruit from the Tree
It doesn't fall far. Turner Gill is my all-time favorite Cornhusker player. He ran the option like no other because he understood the chess match that went along with the option. He later became the QB coach at Nebraska under Tom Osborne and Coach Osborne was the best man at Coach Gill's wedding. I will go to my grave with the belief that these are two of the finest men you will ever want to meet.
Joe Dailey was the QB during the coaching upheaval at NU. Joe was the starting QB who had the duty of trying to understand the Bill Callahan West Coast offense. Instead of arguing and fighting, Joe took the bull by the horns and studied and learned as much as he could. Unfortunately, his physical abilities were not well-suited for the WCO. He transfered to North Carolina for his senior season. Joe was a quality athlete who got caught in the whirlwind of a coaching change (a bad one I might add) but he never let that define who he was as a player or a man.
And now, the man who recruited him to Nebraska has given him a chance to coach. This is the epitome of coaching and mentoring. Good luck to Joe and Coach Gill...who would still look great roaming the sidelines of Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoons from Labor Day to Thanksgiving...and a Buffalo-Nebraska championship game in the future!

Yep. Another vast, right-wing conspiracy" from Bush, Ceney and company. Quick! Get the "lamestream" media on this. We can't have PBO looked upon in a negative light in ANY situation! We need talking points. We need the pundits out in front of this stat!

Mad, Mad Money
I have watched Jim's show every so often, mostly while flipping through channels or forced to while on the treadmill at my gym. While I am ignorant of all things stock market, derivatives, short, long, etc. I enjoy his passion. I cannot tell you whether he is right or wrong in his advice but he is enjoybale to watch because of his energy and passion. I'm sure his investing advice is no better or worse than any other "Wall Streeter."
But I do love this. He takes it to PBO and takes it to him hard. I totally disagree with his "when this all gets better" scenario, but let the people keep all the money they earn and watch the economy grow by leaps and bounds.

Edumuhkayshun!
Last week I purchased a burger at Burger King for $1.58.The counter girl took my $2 and I was digging for mychange when I pulled 8 cents from my pocket and gave it to her.She stood there, holding the nickel and 3 pennies, whilelooking at the screen on her register.I sensed her discomfort and tried to tell her to just giveme two quarters, but she hailed the manager for help. While he tried to explain the transaction to her, she stoodthere and cried. Why do I tell you this?Because of the evolution in teaching math since the 1950s:
1. Teaching Math In 1950s:
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100.His cost of production is 4/5 of the price. What is his profit ?
2. Teaching Math In 1960s:
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100.His cost of production is 4/5 of the price, or $80.What is his profit?
3. Teaching Math In 1970s:
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100.His cost of production is $80.Did he make a profit?
4. Teaching Math In 1980s:
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100.His cost of production is $80 and his profit is $20.Your assignment: Underline the number 20.5.
Teaching Math In 1990s:
A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish andinconsiderate and cares nothing for the habitat of animalsor the preservation of our woodlands. He does this so he can make a profit of $20.What do you think of this way of making a living?Topic for class participation after answering the question:How did the birds and squirrels feel as the logger cut down theirhomes? (There are no wrong answers, and if you feel like crying, it's ok.)
6. Teaching Math In 2009:
Un hachero vende una carretada de madera para $100. Elcosto de la producciones es $80. Cuanto dinero ha hecho?
But there are no problems with our educational system in this country.

Who's Afraid of the Big, Bad, Rush?
Democrats are it appears. The "usual suspects" are hard at it to remove any opposition to their ideology...typical liberal antics. Shoot the messenger and not the message.
But this illustrates just how fragile the PBO's house fo cards really is. They are scared s*itless of this man because he is the only voice giving opposition to PBO and his socialistic/dictatorial ideology. Bush is gone and cannot be blamed any longer so they need a new hate dog; enter Rush Limabugh. They can't beat him...see failed Air America...nor can they join him...without a new "Fairness Doctrine" so he is the easy target. Much like a stand up comedian who goes right to the cussing and swearing in their routine, it is the easy laugh.
Shut up the opposition and wield the heavy hand of government on the people. Does that sound familiar to anyone? Have we seen that before in the world?
Oh, I forgot. That will never happen again. We're smarter than that. To quote my good friend ElBorak; "anyone born before 1950 was an idiot."

Not Me
Finger-pointing is the name of the game in Washington D.C. It has been for years and its called "politics." The problem here is that he doesn't have a Bush to kick around anymore. How many more times can he go to the well and blame all of this on Bush and Cheney?
For the 40% of the country that are in bed with PBO and will lick his boots wherever and whenever asked, it will always be Bush's (re: Republican) fault. For the 40% of Republicans (Moderates, I might add...conservatives are leaving the party in droves) they will always blame the Democrat.
That leaves the 20% in the middle. As soon as they begin to notice that the "hope" and "change" they voted for was a sham...and make no mistake, it is a complete sham...they will leave in droves as well. Pelosi, Reid et al, smelling blood in the water for their own political lives, will leave PBO flapping in the wind with nowhere to go but out of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue...or out for anothe rspeech where he gives away cars, jobs and health benefits. Manna from heaven from "The messiah."

Welcome to the Big Leagues
Time for you to wear your big boy panties PBO. Put the training panties away.
You may be able to control the lapdog media in this country with their incessant orgasmic slobbering at your every word, but just remember, none of that plays in Moscow, China or North Korea. In our weakened state...and it will continue to get weaker as long as you, Bernanke, Frank et al keep putting your fingers inthe dyke (oops, sorry Diane Feinstein)...you will have no negotiation power whatsoever.
